Bio
Fillo is a Venezuelan-American multi-instrumentalist, producer, and composer known for his curiosity-driven approach to music. He creates immersive, genre-bending compositions that blend jazz, rock, Latin, and experimental sounds, aiming to provoke thought and emotion while engaging listeners in unique sonic experiences. Through his solo work, his band Snake Lounge, and other collaborations, Fillo explores new textures and musical ideas with an open and playful approach.
His musical journey began in high school marching band, where he played trumpet and started arranging songs for performance ensembles. Studying Commercial Music Composition at Florida Atlantic University expanded his perspective on music and composition, while experiences in Los Angeles recording with accomplished musicians and a study abroad in Japan inspired him to pursue original music. These formative experiences helped him embrace experimentation and improvisation, shaping the eclectic, immersive style he is known for today. Influences range from fusion legends like Herbie Hancock and Steely Dan to contemporary rap, anime/video game soundtracks, and progressive rock, all informing the adventurous, exploratory nature of his work.
Fillo’s music is characterized by its diversity and willingness to blend genres, combining textures and soundscapes in ways that invite listeners on a journey. He developed a philosophy of writing that values exploration over perfection, allowing ideas to flow naturally and evolve organically. Whether performing live, recording, or collaborating with other artists, Fillo prioritizes creating music that feels genuine, immersive, and emotionally resonant.
His Latest EP, Sonidos Mestizos, showcases his experimentation with Venezuelan folk music and contemporary sounds. Fillo’s work has been recognized by Indie Boulevard Magazine, where Sonidos Mestizos received the “Best EP” award at the 2025 Indie Boulevard Music Awards along with a feature review. He has also appeared as a guest on the 561 Music Podcast, discussing his creative process, musical influences, and evolving artistic direction. Currently, Fillo is focused on developing new projects spanning jazz fusion, solo compositions, and collaborative works in Latin, rap, and experimental genres.
